How big do Maine Coons get
People ask how big Maine Coons get, and how much they weigh. I will not invent a chart.
Not done at a year
Males are usually the larger ones. Females are smaller and still not a regular house cat. I have watched mine keep filling out past the first birthday. Plan on three to four years before you are looking at the adult.
A photo makes a kitten look bigger than the kitten is. I say that every time I send pictures.
I am not going to publish a pound I have not weighed on my own cats. They are a large cat, and the gear has to match.
What to buy for the size
Plan a litter box, a scratcher, and a carrier for the adult, not for the 12-week-old. They outgrow the kitten versions.
I do not keep a size chart on the wall.
If you need a cat that stays the size of a regular shorthair, this is not that cat.
The surprise is usually the paws and the tail.

I am not going to give you a folk story. They are a big cat, and the size is part of what I keep.
